COURSE DESCRIPTION: A non-college-prep course covering principles of life
science that are in the California Content Standards for biology. Does not meet requirements for acceptance into a 4 year college or
university. In life science A, we will study nature of life,
biochemistry, cells, cell energy, genetics, and evolution.
REQUIRED:
3-ring binder
colored pencils
paper and pen or pencil
WHEN YOU COME TO CLASS:
1. Remove your hat (girls and guys).
2. Turn off and put away any cell phones, music players,
cameras or other electronics.
3. Don’t eat.
4. Clean language only.
5. RESPECT for everybody. Don’t refer to people by their
race or country of origin. NO PUT
6. Start working on the warm-up when the bell rings.
7. What the teacher says is final.

TARDIES:
1. THREE tardies = -1 from your
final average.
2. Every five minutes tardy = 1 tardy. So 15 minutes late
= 3 tardies in one day.
3. If you miss any graded classroom activity because you
have an unexcused tardy, you will get a zero for that assignment.
4. Incentives for arriving on time:
a) Students who have NO tardies will be exempt from the
final exam. You MUST show up to the exam, but you do not have to take it. If
you show up late for the exam, you MUST take it. If you have to take the exam
and show up late, 5 points will be deducted from your exam grade. If you don’t
have to take the exam, but you don’t show up, you will receive a zero for it if
you do not have a doctor’s excuse.
b) Every THREE WEEKS, students who have shown up on time every
day will receive 5 bonus points.
IF YOU
If your attendance record
does not show an excused absence, you will not be allowed to make up your work.
When absent, you have one week to turn in makeup work and take tests or
quizzes.
HOMEWORK:
Homework is due by 5 minutes
after the bell rings. If you do not do your homework, you will get a zero. NO
LATE HOMEWORK ACCEPTED. If you are late to class, you will get a zero for any
work turned in before you arrived.
TESTS
Quizzes will NOT be open
note. Tests will be open note.
